Hexa Connect
Spin hexagonal tiles until every glowing path links up and the whole board lights as one connected circuit.
Gameplay overview
A calmer take on the pipe puzzle
Hexa Connect is a hexagonal take on the classic rotate-the-tiles puzzle. Each tile carries curved or straight segments of coloured paths, and the board is only solved when those paths join into complete, unbroken lines with no dead ends.
Stage one starts with a seven-tile flower and each of the five hand-made stages adds another ring, moving up to nineteen tiles, then thirty-seven and beyond. After stage five the game keeps generating random boards, and progress is saved so you can pick the journey back up later. Outer-edge hints show which colours are still waiting to be connected.
Your objective
What you are trying to achieve
Rotate the hex tiles until every coloured path connects cleanly into a complete circuit. There is no losing state, only boards you have not solved yet.
Clear a board and the game advances you to a larger one, so the goal is simply to keep connecting bigger and bigger networks.
Controls
Turn, zoom, solve
| Action | Input / gesture |
|---|---|
| Rotate a tile | Tap or click a hexagon to turn it sixty degrees. |
| Zoom | Pinch on a touchscreen, or scroll the mouse wheel on desktop, to zoom between 1× and 3×. |
| Pan the board | Drag with two fingers, or drag the board itself, to move around the larger stages. |
| Continue later | Your current stage is stored automatically, so reopening the game resumes where you left off. |
Beginner guide
Your first few minutes
Hexa Connect is gentle, but a little method beats endless spinning. These first-session habits make the early stages quick.
- Start at the edge of the board, where the outer hints tell you which colour has to reach that tile.
- Look for dead ends first, because any segment that finishes in nothing is rotated the wrong way.
- Work colour by colour instead of tile by tile, so you do not accidentally break a line you already finished.
- Zoom in on the bigger boards; the 2× and 3× views make small segments far easier to read.
- Do not worry about failing, because the board stays exactly as it is until you solve it.
Advanced tips
Solve from the outside in
- Straight segments are anchors, so lock them in first and rotate the curved pieces around them.
- A tile that looks correct on its own can still be wrong, which is why you should check every neighbour before moving on.
- On the large random boards, finish the innermost ring first so you always have a fixed reference point to build outwards from.
Stages and board sizes
Five hand-made rings, then endless
- Stage one is a seven-tile flower; each following stage adds a ring, giving nineteen, then thirty-seven tiles and more.
- After the five hand-made stages the game generates random boards indefinitely.
- Outer hints mark which colours still need to reach the edge, so you always know what is unfinished.
- Your next stage is saved locally, so the game resumes where you stopped.
Our take
Why it is worth a try
Hexa Connect is the most relaxing game in this set. There is no timer, no fail state and no score, just a growing hexagonal board and the quiet satisfaction of watching a wave of light run around it when you finally get it right.
The five hand-made stages ease you in before the infinite mode takes over, and the hex grid gives the old pipe-puzzle formula a fresh look. It will not raise your pulse, and that is exactly the point.
Who will enjoy it?
- For puzzle players who like logic grids and calm, untimed sessions. Think of it as a crossword for people who prefer shapes.
